Write your statement on masculinity!

Authors, performers, stand-up artists and (slam) poets will share their vision on masculinity during Voice Male on the 27th of November in Beursschouwburg, Brussels.

The only restriction is time: each speaker gets 10 minutes. We give the stage to stand-up artist James Lórien McDonald, performer and musician Jaouad Alloul , activist Eric Niyibizi Cyuzuzo (Rainbow Nation Brussels), author & political scientist Gijs Hablous and visual artist and Trans* activist Jihan Imago.

Competition rules

• The submission must be sent to debbie@deburen.eu in English and as a Word document.
• The deadline is on Sunday the 27th of October at 21:00.
• The jury members are: Jad Zeitouni (Emancipator and Flemish Youth Council), singer-songwriter Bryan Mugande, Mathieu Buyse (deBuren), Malin Bergstöm (Finnish Cultural Institute) and Tom Bonte (Beursschouwburg).
• You can also participate as part of a duo or group.
• We ask participants to keep the 27th of November free in their agenda.
• On Wednesday the 13th of November we will contact all participants on the result.
• The best submission will get the last slot during Voice Male and a fee of 250 euros.
• If you want to participate but you don´t feel comfortable on stage, we can arrange for someone else to bring your statement in your name.
• We will not give individual feedback.

Voice Male will take place on the 27th of November in Beursschouwburg in Brussels. It is part of the Festival RE/defining Masculinity. This festival is an initiative of the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux in collaboration with Beursschouwburg and deBuren.
